LYNNETTE RAMIREZ
For over twenty years, I've built a career I genuinely love as a development executive and producer. Most of my days aren't spent on set. They're spent reading, taking meetings, strategizing, and digging back into story. I've built my whole approach around one belief: writing is rewriting.
What brings me the most joy, day in and day out, is the stories I get to hear. Not just the thousands of screenplays, treatments, outlines, and books that have crossed my desk over the years, or the films and series I've helped bring to life. It's something smaller than that. It's sitting across from a fellow creative in a general meeting and asking them to tell me their story. The specific, unrepeatable details of how they got here. There's real vulnerability and generosity in sharing that. And after listening to thousands of people deliver their "elevator pitch," who they are, why they're here, what they're after, I've come to see that personal storytelling is its own art form.
Running production companies has also put me on panels, at conferences, in rooms full of people networking. And what I keep coming back to is this: no matter your field, you need to be able to tell your story in a voice that's distinctly yours, concise, authentic, unmistakably you. You need to be able to say, simply and with real passion, who you are, what you want, and why you're the one who should get it. Long before the deck, the pitch, the market research, or the ask, the people standing between you and a "yes" need to feel that you're trustworthy, confident, capable, and the right person for the job. Whatever that job is. Those first two to five minutes of how you tell your story shape everything that follows. I've spent my career learning the craft of narrative from the inside of Hollywood, and I'm ready to share what I know, everything I've learned, everything I believe, about building the kind of story that sets you up to win!
BIOGRAPHY
Lynnette is interested in how story shapes the way we understand identity, leadership, culture, and ourselves. For more than two decades, she has worked across film and television development, production, talent partnerships, and creative strategy, helping bring character-driven, culturally resonant projects to screen. As President of Bassett Vance Productions, the company founded by Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett and Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor Courtney B. Vance, she oversees development, strategic partnerships, and day-to-day operations across a growing slate of film, television, and digital projects. Throughout her career, she’s collaborated with artists, writers, producers, studios, and networks to develop work grounded in emotional truth, strong point of view, and distinct voice. Beyond entertainment, she is also an adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University in the school of film and television. She continues to be fascinated by the connection between narrative and human psychology, how people make meaning through memory, identity, personal experience, and the stories they tell themselves and others. At the center of it all is her belief that the stories that stay with us reveal something honest about who we are and how we connect.
